Privacy Policy for Riid – Learn Languages

1. Introduction

Riid – Learn Languages (“Riid”, “the App”) is developed by Big Whale Company Oy (Finnish Business Id: 3608284-5), Finland. Your privacy is important, and this policy explains how data is handled.

2. Data Collection

Riid does not require accounts or sign-ins and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contacts.

To process in-app purchases and subscriptions, the App uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) as a third-party service. When you make or restore a purchase, purchase and subscription information (e.g. transaction/receipt data, the product purchased, purchase date, and subscription status) is sent to RevenueCat and linked to an anonymous, app-generated identifier. By default this does not include personally identifying information.

To understand how the App is used and to improve it, Riid uses PostHog as an analytics tool. Analytics events (such as which stories are opened and general usage patterns) are collected without any persistent or personal identifier, so they cannot be linked to you or combined into a profile over time. No advertising or ad-tracking technologies are present.

If you enable notifications, the App registers a device-specific push token, which we store on our servers so we can send you push notifications (for example, learning reminders). This token identifies your app installation on a device, not you personally, and is used only to deliver notifications.

3. Data Usage

Purchase and subscription information is used only to verify purchases, unlock and manage access to paid features, and restore purchases across your devices. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or behavioral personalization.

Analytics data is used only in aggregate to measure feature usage, diagnose problems, and improve the App; it is not used for advertising, profiling, or behavioral personalization. Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the App (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The push token is used solely to deliver the notifications you have enabled.

4. Third Parties

We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) to process purchases on our behalf. RevenueCat acts as a data processor under our instructions and stores purchase data on servers in the United States. We do not sell user data or share it with third parties for advertising. RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

We use PostHog for analytics via PostHog Cloud hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). PostHog acts as a data processor under our instructions. Its privacy policy is available at https://posthog.com/privacy.

Push notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service. To deliver a notification, your device push token is processed by Google. Google’s privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Children’s Privacy

Riid is rated 13+ and is not intended for children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect data from children.

6. User Rights

The purchase data described above is linked to an anonymous identifier rather than to your identity. To the extent any of it relates to you, you may request access or deletion by contacting us at the address below, and we will forward deletion requests to RevenueCat as needed.

You can turn analytics off at any time using the toggle in the App’s settings, and you may object to this processing on the same basis. Because analytics events carry no persistent identifier, we are unable to single out or retrieve data relating specifically to you from them. You can stop receiving push notifications at any time by disabling notification permission for Riid in your device settings, after which your push token is no longer used.

7. Future Changes

If our data practices change in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated, and users will be informed as required by law.
